Step 1: Download and install XAMPP on your computer
To get started, you need to download and install the XAMPP software. You can download it from hereChoose the platform you want to download the XAMPP to, for example, if you are on Windows Operating System you choose Windows.
Locate the downloaded file and install it.
To install XAMPP and run WordPress, you do not need all of the components. In addition to the required components, all you need are: MySQL and PHPMyAdmin
Once it finishes, you can launch the control panel to start working with XAMPP.
Step 2: Start the modules and test your server
To install XAMPP and WordPress properly, you’ll need to run two modules: Apache and MySQLOnce you launch them, you should see their status turn to green.
Step 3. Download WordPress
Download WordPress from the official website. Unzip downloaded zip file.Now go to the XAMPP directory in your computer’s system drive. Open “htdocs” folder (found inside the XAMPP directory).
For example, if you make the folder wordpress, you’ll access your site by going to http://localhost/wordpress.
Once you create the folder, extract the WordPress .zip file you downloaded from wordpress.org into it.
Step 4. Create a database
Your WordPress site needs a database to save its data on. Go to localhost/phpmyadmin on your browser. Click on “New” and give it a name then click on “Create” to finish the process. For example, my database name is wordpress.Step 5: Run the WordPress installer
Type localhost/wordpress (name of your WordPress file in the htdocs) on your browser’s address bar and hit enter.
Now perform a few more actions to complete the installation. Select language and click “Continue”
.Click on “Let’s go!” button on the following page.
The only step where this process will differ from a normal install is the database details. When you get to the database details, enter them like this:
Database Name = Name of the database you created in PHPMyAdmin
Username = “root”
Password = leave blank
Hit “Submit” button at the bottom and click “Run the installation” on the very next page.
Complete installation with admin information
Give your site a title, username, password, and email address. Finally hit the “Install WordPress” button at the bottom.You have successfully installed WordPress on your computer. Log into your site now.
